HEADLESS HORSEMAN TO GALLOP PAST LUNCHTIME CROWD
Oklahoma City Ballet Opens 2009-2010 Season with Timeless Classic The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Oklahoma City, OK---Heads will turn in downtown Oklahoma City Friday, October 23rd, as the mysterious Headless Horseman will ride through a stunned lunchtime crowd to promote his appearance in the Oklahoma City Ballet’s production of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, the new full-length ballet from choreographer Alan Hineline, opens the Oklahoma City Ballet’s 2009-2010 season on Halloween weekend. The mysterious Headless Horseman’s haunting ride in the autumn night chasing the hapless Ichabod Crane is the centerpiece of this timeless Halloween story. “This is the perfect ballet with which to open our new season,” said Artistic Director Robert Mills. “Choreographer Alan Hineline has perfectly captured Washington Irving’s harrowing tale of mystery and romance for our talented company of dancers.”
Instead of his infamous midnight ride, the Headless Horseman astride his steed will make a daring noontime ride through the streets of downtown Oklahoma City to grab the attention of the downtown lunch crowd. The route begins at NW 4th and Broadway. From that intersection, the Horseman will ride south on Broadway to Park Avenue, then continue west on Park Avenue to Couch Drive. He will circle the Civic Center and head back up to Park Avenue, continuing to Robinson, then Main Street back to 4th and Broadway.
Your Oklahoma City Ballet presents the thrilling The Legend of Sleepy Hollow at the Civic Center Music Hall. It is sure to be a new Halloween favorite for the entire family.
