RePUBlic Gastropub Opens in Classen Curve

New Concept Reinvents the Neighborhood Pub

OKLAHOMA CITY -- On the curve of historic Classen Boulevard sits a sleek new retail and restaurant development called Classen Curve.  Among the eclectic tenants is a revolutionary pub and eatery called RePUBlic Gastropub.

This new concept reinvents, recreates and redefines the neighborhood pub.  RePUBlic is so distinct; it has its own definition:

Republic Gastropub (ri-puhb-lik gastro-pub):

Unmatched variety of quality spirits served in a warm, inviting contemporary pub atmosphere where the food is sophisticated, yet unpretentious.

RePUBlic is a collaboration among three well known local groups:  Chesapeake Energy Corporation, who developed and owns the restaurant;  local architect Rand Elliott with Elliott + Associates Architects, who designed it; and   local restaurateurs Heather and Keith Paul with A Good Egg Dining (AGE), who helped develop and refine the concept  and manage it.

“This is definitely a one-of-a-kind place,” said Keith Paul.  “It is, by no means, an overstatement to say RePUBlic has reinvented the neighborhood pub.  We truly have done so.  There is nothing ordinary about it - everything is extraordinary.”

“RePUBlic will be the place to gather in Oklahoma City,” said Heather Paul.  “It’s like an extension of one’s own home where you can relax with friends and family, enjoy incredible food and drink and take in every sporting event imaginable on the 28 plasma televisions throughout the pub.  Of course, the Oklahoman City Thunder always takes center stage on the giant 200-inch high definition movie-quality projection screen overlooking a portion of the 30-seat copper bar.”

RePUBlic will offer 100 American craft and import beers on tap and 250 assorted bottled beers from throughout the world. The menu is decidedly American with undertones of soul, southern and southwestern flavors and was designed to complement the huge beer selection. “RePUBlic was born of the idea to marry the burgeoning American craft beer movement with this blend of fine cuisines,” Keith Paul said.

The architectural interior designed by architect Rand Elliott features charcoal leather seating and paper stone walls, creating a warm feel. These elements play beautifully with the soft glow of the copper bar and the highlighted wall of custom ale colored bubble glass. “Every one of us involved in the concept wanted to create a truly special place so comfortable that patrons would stay for a while, a place where the food is as important as the drink and the atmosphere is unlike anything anywhere,” said Keith Paul.

Wall-mounted plasma televisions include the giant 200-inch high definition projection screen, four 103-inch and 24 50-inch plasmas which collectively assure sports enthusiasts will catch all the action of their favorite sports while dining and relaxing at RePUBlic.

Perhaps nothing more aptly describes the driving idea behind the new RePUBlic Gastropub as Samuel Johnson’s prophetic quote about a fine pub:

“No sir, there is nothing which has yet to be contrived by man by which so much happiness is produced as a good tavern or inn.” – Samuel Johnson

RePUBlic is open seven days a week.  From Sunday through Wednesday, RePUBlic is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday hours are 11 a.m. to midnight.  For more information visit www.republicgastropub.com

A Good Egg Dining Group (AGE) was founded by Keith Paul, Heather Paul and Sean Ray in 2006. AGE is a result of the success of Keith and Heather’s first restaurant, Cheever’s Café, which opened in 2000. AGE also owns and operates Cheever’s Catering, Iron Starr Urban Barbeque, Market-C, and Red Primesteak. AGE also manages POPS on Route 66 near Arcadia, Oklahoma, and the POPS truck, which visits downtown Oklahoma City during weekdays. Each concept is unique while all strive for the same excellence in customer satisfaction.
